On behalf of the International ISBN Agency and its Board, I am very happy to write a letter of appreciation for the National Book Chamber of the Republic of Moldova (NBCRM) and its Director General, Ms Renata Cozonac.
The NBCRM provides resolute support of the national bibliography, robust collection and analysis of the statistics of publishing output and is dedicated to the successful and widespread implementation of international book supply chain standards in the Republic of Moldova.
Vital to securing these accomplishments is, of course, the knowledgeable and committed staff of the NBCRM. In particular, I have known Ms Renata Cozonac for about 15 years, primarily in terms of her management of the national ISBN (International Standard Book Number) Agency of the Republic of Moldova. ISBN is the world’s most important identifier for books. Renata upholds the principles of the ISBN standard, including advising publishers about the correct scope and assignment of ISBN and also about the associated metadata that must be provided at the time of application. Under Renata’s smooth supervision the ISBN Agency of the Republic of Moldova also responds promptly to the requests made by us at the International ISBN Agency – e.g. the regular submission of publisher and ISBN data for inclusion in the Global Register of Publishers thereby securing valuable extra international exposure for your publishers.
Renata has attended many ISBN Annual General Meetings to which delegates from all national ISBN agencies are invited and has conscientiously represented the Republic of Moldova on these international occasions, most recently just last week at our meeting in Madrid, Spain. We were also extremely pleased to hold our Annual General Meeting in 2012 in Chişinău, expertly hosted by Renata and her colleagues. Both I and my colleague Nick Woods worked closely with Renata in making all the arrangements for that important meeting. She is unstinting in her efforts to assist and she has always been very fast to reply to any questions that we have raised with her.
I have no hesitation in commending the work of the NBCRM and of its Director General.
